Well, the Western Force have announced their squad to tour South Africa and it is quite surprising in light of our earlier story.
According to a report in an Aussie daily, Matt Henjak and Haig Sare should both be out, the latter due to the fact that the former broke his jaw in a fight and the former for obvious reasons. The squad announced on News24, however, includes both players.
What does this mean? Will the squad be changed at a later date? Or just maybe the Aussies are busy with yet another cover-up! The mind boggles.
The 26-man team have a pretty tough tour ahead of them, facing the Sharks on Friday night, before heading to Bloem and then Joburg to play the Cheetahs and Lions respectively. They will base themselves in Durban for the three weeks, meaning eThekweni’s finest had best be on high alert lest the Henjak show goes on its customary light night rampage through the clubs and bars!
Here is the sqaud:
Richard Brown, Pek Cowan, Ryan Cross, Nick Cummins, Scott Daruda, Scott Fava, Matt Giteau, Gareth Hardy, Matt Henjak, Tom Hockings, Matt Hodgson, Luke Holmes, Lachlan MacKay, Tai McIsaac, Drew Mitchell, David Pocock, David Pusey, Haig Sare, Nathan Sharpe (captain), Cameron Shepherd, Scott Staniforth, James Stannard, Troy Takiari, Sitaleki Timani, A.J. Whalley, Sam Wykes.
This just in! Seems that Henjak is indeed on the plane! Sare, of course, is not. Seems like there’s a tug of love going on here, with the ARU adamant that Henjak should not be on the tour, pending the results of a disciplinary hearing. Looks like the Force management are showing the national union a big middle finger.
