We just received this email, which might go some way towards explaining why some of you seem to have an intermittently slow connection to the site:
“We are currently in the process of moving to bigger and better premises in order to improve our service delivery to you.
During this period, you may experience intermittent disruptions or slow connectivity to services however this will be kept to a minimum. We will be moving our Server Core on Saturday 23rd of February which will mark the end of our move. Services will resume as per normal provided no unforeseen circumstances arise.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause during the week and weekend leading up to our final transition.”
So – I guess that explains it. The guys holding the master DNS record for the Sharksworld domain are being silly. You can rest assured that a rude letter will follow from yours truly.
I guess this means that you might get some DNS timeouts when trying to resolve the name “www.sharksworld.co.za” over the next few days. For those of you who are REALLY tech-savvy, you can always try adding a manual entry to your hosts file that maps www.sharksworld.co.za to the IP address 22.214.171.124. This will bypass the DNS lookup so you should be able to come straight here. This will only work if you’re NOT using a proxy, though.
You should remove the entry after the weekend, or risk never finding us again should our IP address ever change!
Thanks for your patience and on behalf of our idiot service provider, we apologise for the interruption!Tweet
