  • My Superbru says the existing form will continue.

And after the Hurricanes showed they are not some piddly little team yesterday, it gives a little more meaning to the Tahs’ win last weekend.

Try – The Chiefs forwards drive for the line. From the ruck Leonard feeds Messam. He uses his strength to force his way over the tryline

Try – Sivivatu gets a ball on the halfway line. He dummies his way through the defence and scores under the posts for a brilliant indivualistic try.

    Try converted.

The Tahs bash away now 5 metres from the Chiefs line after some nippy open play but Beale’s shoddy passes is knocked on to give the Chiefs a scrum. The Tahs are looking much more determined. The Chiefs try to clear it but the Tahs gather and spread it wide across field but untidy passing sees the ball bounce over the touch line. The Chiefs put in an up ‘n under which is knocked forward by the Tahs – Chiefs scrum near half way and Palu picks it up off the back of the scrum and charges ahead.

  • Chiefs and Hurricanes are like the French – you never know what team is going to pitch up. Hope this doesn’t sound racially-biased, but on what I’ve heard, the Pacific Islanders have a role to play in this Jeckell and Hyde style.

I don’t think it’s racist in any way. Fiji are the same they can be super hot or just implode when one little thing goes wrong.

Some nations are just more prone to it than others. Fiji and France are just more prone to it, doesn’t matter what colour they are.

The Chiefs have a line-out now 6 metres from their own line and only just secure the ball only to scramble it out. Tahs win their own line-out and spread it as Beale tries to kick for the corner. A free-kick is awarded to the Chiefs now who punt it down field. Chiefs bash away near half way stringing together a few phases but the Tahs win a turn-over in open play and Turner puts in a huge kick to find touch. It’s a free-kick for the Chiefs as the Tahs play the ball on the ground. The Chiefs drive it up but loose another turn over ball. Turner kicks it out on the full after it was passed back into the 22 and it’s a Chiefs scrum way back where it was kicked from.

The Tahs plug away now and get the free-kick which is taken quickly but the Tahs go off their feet to give the Chiefs a free-kick. Chiefs spread it wide and make good progress up their right hand touch line. It comes back the other way but the passes are too quick and the ball goes over the touch line on the other side. The Chiefs opt for a scrum after getting a free-kick from a scrum infringement. The scrum wheels 180 and the Tahs come away with it but Jonker calls them back for another scrum. The Chiefs are inches from the line now as play gets tighter and tighter as they hammer away and eventually give it to the backs who spin it out and almost score but loose it forward in the very last reach for the line. Knock on – scrum Tahs.

The Tahs get a penalty from the scrum and the Tahs get relief through the kick which finds touch 10 metres from half way. The Chiefs attack but it’s stolen in the ruck. The Tahs win the line-out and charge ahead but its turned over by the Tahs who spin it wide only for Sam Harris to intercept for a Tahs TRY. Beale’s conversion kick is good.

    17 – 12 Chiefs
