A far more consistent round for the majority of our tippers. Seems we are starting to get a better feel for the relative strengths and weaknesses of teams in this year’s Super 14. Let’s have a look at the standings in our very own Sharksworld pool in the score prediction game over at www.superbru.com.
Game 8: Hurricanes v Reds
The home side won this encounter by five points, prevailing 23-18. About 60% of the pool picked the right winner, with 15 of you close enough to pick up the margin point. Congratulations to Hmmm, Kandas and Dive Pass, who shared the pool bonus point by predicting the exact difference.
Game 9: Cheetahs v Force
A result that went down to the wire, with the convicts pipping the farmers by a single point at the death. Cheetahs 15, Force 16 and a margin of one. Most of you backed the Force for a win (I didn’t) and there were 14 margin points handed out. PostmanPat picked the exact result and got the bonus all to himself… watch that name, you’ll hear it again!
Game 10: Bulls v Crusaders
Who would’ve thought that the mighty champions would end up losing by a whopping 35 points? Nobody in this pool, that’s for sure! Final score was Bulls 19, Crusaders 54 and the closest result we had was Namboer, who picks up the bonus for his pick of the Pony Club by 26. No margin points in this one – nobody was close enough.
Game 11: Chiefs v Waratahs
Another see-sawing game that went right down to the wire. Stephen Donald sealed it for the home team with a penalty at the death, so it was the Chiefs by three, winning 20-17. Only half of us picked the Chiefs here and again 15 people grabbed a margin point for being conservative in their predictions. Western Sauce and shark_time picked the Chiefs by 4, so they share the bonus point for this one.
Game 12: Brumbies v Highlanders
A difficult one to pick, as both of these sides are really poor this year. Those of you that backed the Criminal Cavalry for a home win were not disappointed as the Brumbies prevailed by two point, 22-20. Most of you got the winner, 12 got the margin within 7 and our postbag-toting friend PostmanPat again walked off with the bonus, all by himself, predicting Brumbies by 1.
Game 13: Sharks v Stormers
Most of us picked the Sharks for a narrow win here and the Durban team duly delivered, squeaking home by 2 points to win 12-10. There were 13 margin points handed out, but only Kandas (no longer a Bulls fan) got the result spot-on, so the bonus is all his.
Game 14: Lions v Blues
Another game were a few resolute souls backed the home side, but most went with the boys from Auckland. Again, nobody was anywhere near the final winning margin: Blues 55, Lions 10, 45 points the difference. No margin points, but a bonus point for Ollie who had the Blues by 29.
We have a completely new top 3 this week. IceBabe has surged into third place and is only a third of a point behind the joint leaders, PostmanPat and Ghost10, who have 18.50 points each. PostmanPat is the MVP of the round with a superb haul of 13.5 points (maximum on offer is 17.5), so a truly brilliant performance.
Here is the complete top 10:
