  • Chiefs by 19 for me on SB

I think the Cheetahs will last 40 miutes maybe a little more and then just be outrun.

    Conversion Barnard.

    12
The Chiefs boot ahead and an aerial battle ensues before Daniller puts it out with a big kick. Another steal at the lineout for the Cheetahs – free-kick and off they go! It goes out wide to Eddie Fredericks who burns his way to the tryline! Barnard adds the extras.

Great play by the Cheetahs and they now look full of running. A decent kick is put into the Chiefs 22 and Muliaina hoofs it out… The Cheetahs now attack the line at pace and close in! Chipped ahead, but the ball beats them over the line – scrum Chiefs.

The Chiefs under pressure at the scrum, but they manage to secure it and put it out. The Cheetahs secure and drive it up before releasing their backs, looking good, but then the ball is knocked on by Vermeulen

    Barnard Converts.

The Chiefs looking untidy and the Cheetahs come through to secure the scrum. Barnard with the kick and the Chiefs run it back. Leonard tries too much and the Cheetahs have it! Nokwe gets it in space and he burns away for the try! Barnard adds the extras!

one thing that these injuries are doing for the Cheetahs is giving the odd youngster a chance.

They just need to divise a way of keeping the youngsters in Bloem though.

    36
Sivivatu knocks it on in the tackle – scrum Cheetahs. Bosman hammers a massive kick into touch for the Cheetahs – smart play. The Chiefs run it from the lineout, but get closed down – free-kick Chiefs holding on. Penalty Chiefs as the Cheetahs come offside – the ball is put into touch.

The Chiefs secure it and look to drive it up at the line. Solid defence by the Cheetahs, but the danger remains. Metres out now and Leonard ducks through – TMO called into play. Wow, just short of the line! We’re talking inches… scrum Cheetahs.

Penalty Chiefs as Noel Oelschig comes offside – little time left and Donald will have a shot. But again he pushes it wide and the Cheetahs go into the break 17-0 up.

Lauaki barges through a couple to set the Chiefs up – Muliaina breaks through, but is cut down. Free-kick Chiefs as the Cheetahs hold on in the tackle. The scrum is employed and Leonard makes another telling dart – though and over the line. TMO again called into action. TRY GIVEN! Donald adds the extras.

Chiefs all over it now as they seek to take the lead. Sivivatu gets around Fredericks, but then is felled by the ankle-tap… spread down the other side and the ball is lost forward. Cheetahs scrum under pressure and the ball is knocked on! Huge pressure for the Cheetahs now as they ring the changes. The Chiefs go blind and have the penalty for offside play.

    64
Lineout taken and the Chiefs now attack the line! Over they go, but the ball was knocked on! Fitness a major factor… has the trip caught up with the Cheetahs? It looks like it. De Bruyn makes the clearance, but the Cheetahs are still under major pressure. The line is within site, but again the Chiefs knock it on with a try in site!

The Cheetahs slow things down with the drive. Sticking with the forwards – sensible play. But they are turned over! Fredericks cuts the runner down, but it is way high and he gets the yellow! Penalty Chiefs and Donald steps up. And over it goes – for the first time the Chiefs have the lead.

  • Geez Cheetahs, nothing like throwing it away there!
Poor game plan, aimless kicking and passing, poor fitness…. It showed in the end. When the chips are down, it’s what you do that shows character, and I’m sorry but the Cheetahs showed a distinct LACK of such!
