Time again to review the movements on the all important tipping leaderboard. Let’s have a look at the standings in our very own Sharksworld pool in the score prediction game over at www.superbru.com.
Game 22: Highlanders v Hurricanes
In an ugly all-New Zealand slug-fest, it was the visiting Hurricanes who prevailed by four points, winning 10-6. About two thirds of the pool picked the correct winner here and there were an impressive 13 margin points handed out. The closest prediction was Canes by five, which netted a share of the bonus point for three tipsters, Western Sauce, Debs and Ghost10.
Game 23: Waratahs v Brumbies
A wet game and a controversial winning score. It’s all action this year! The home side took this one by seven points, winning 24-17. The consensus here was a narrow win for the Tahs and margin points were far too numerous to actually count. Well done to Dive Pass, though, who was the only one to get the exact margin. 2.5 points for you, sir.
Game 24: Bulls v Lions
Most of us backed the Bulls to win and it was thanks to Loffie Eloff’s timely reading of that literary masterpiece “Losing Against 14 Men For Dummies” that we got the result we picked (although, in my case, not the result I wanted). The Bulls won by 14 points, prevailing 31-17. Congrats go to three tipsters who shared the bonus. Boofy had the Bulls by 13, whilst Ollie and PaarlGimmie though the men from Pretoria would win by 15.
Game 25: Chiefs v Cheetahs
Oh, but the poor bloody Cheetahs just can’t seem to buy a win. They lead throughout, only to lose (AGAIN) in the final seconds to a penalty. 22-20 and Chiefs by two was the correct result. Only six margin points here (I guess we expected the Cheetahs get stuffed) but the bonus was shared by IceBabe and fattmann, both of whom picked the Chiefs by 4.
Game 26: Reds v Stormers
Well done Stormers! A bonus point victory on the road to really get their campaign started. 34-16 and the Stormers won by 18 points. Nobody got close enough for the margin point (in fact, half of the pool got the winner wrong!) but Whindy grabbed the bonus with his pick of Stormers by 12. If he’d just gone with 1 more point he would have got 2.5 out of this one.
Game 27: Sharks v Blues
Sharks, you bloody beauties! Most of us kept the faith and most of us went with a low score difference, so the final result of Shark 22 – Blues 17 and a difference of 5 suited us just fine. The bonus point was split an impressive 8 ways here, somewhat diluting its value!
Game 28: Force v Crusaders
The Saders were forced (ha ha) to work a lot harder for this result than many of us expected. They prevailed 29-24 in the end, winning by 5. It was the inimitable Ghost10 who got this one spot on, to further consolidate his lead.
Congrats to Ollie, Kandas, Whindy and Namboer, all of whom bagged an ultra-sweet 2 extra points for getting all 7 winners right this week.
Our leader, Ghost10, is really starting to pull away here, but well done to Kandas for surging into second spot with a fine haul of 11.1 points this week. MVP for the round, by the skin of his teeth, is Ollie, with a brilliant return of 11.3.
Here is the complete top 10:
Since Ghost10 is writing a weekly piece for us, I am going to shamelessly claim two of the top ten spots as belonging to Sharksworld contributors. Our other so-called experts are languishing in the following positions:
|23||Sandshark||25.08||Still behind his missus and falling each week!|
|25||PissAnt||23.83||Rooted in 25th spot – that’ll teach you to pick the Blues|
|30||Western Sauce||21.83||Up two places for the big man from the Cape|
|36||PJLD||11.50||No points this round… Claytie, are you still playing?|
