It was bloodshed out there! Seriaaas, what a bloody awful week. Let’s have a look at the standings in our very own Sharksworld pool in the score prediction game over at www.superbru.com.
Game 29: Chiefs v Stormers
This was one of those head v heart debates, at least for me, anyway. My brain told me that the Stormers were never going to win two in a row, which just proves I should never listen to my brain. In the immortal words of Homer Simpson, “Ok brain, you don’t like me and I don’t like you, but let’s just get this over with so I can get back to killing you with alcohol!”. So the Stormers duly prevailed, 35 – 26, an impressive 9 point win. About half of the pool got the winner right, with five of you sharing the bonus point for being within one point of the correct margin. Congrats to King Shark, Hmmm, PaarlGimmie, fattmann and Whindy.
Game 30: Brumbies v Hurricanes
Hurricanes by 18 – a surprising result, given that most of us reckoned the home side would come away with the points. Certainly nobody picked the correct margin, although the_finman was close enough to get all the points on offer. Hurricanes by 14 netted him a sweet 2.5 points.
Game 31: Blues v Force
Ha ha! Seems the overrated Jafa Junta are falling apart the same way they always do after looking unbeatable in the early rounds. Only one flyhalf and no game plan when he goes off? Poor babies. Well done to the Force, who did all the playing in the second half and came away 27-17 winners, a margin of 10. fattmann again pulled off something of a coup by being the only one in the entire pool to call this upset. His pick of Force by 5 got him 2.5 points all to himself.
Game 32: Crusaders v Cheetahs
Not a tough one to call, since Drotske sent in his B-side this week. Crusaders 55, Cheetahs 7 is what the scoreboard read. That’s an embarrassing 48-point smack Very few thought it would be such a comprehensive defeat, although PJLD made up some much-needed ground by predicting that the Saders would take it by 50. That call was close enough to get him the full haul.
Game 33: Reds v Bulls
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ok, can I stop laughing yet? In a remarkable 121-point turnaround, the blue morons managed to actually lose to a team they beat 92-3 last year. And not just lose either – they got thrashed 40-8. That’s right, fans, Reds by 32 was the correct result here. Only PissAnt and Bru-El picked the right winner and the latter’s pick of Reds by 12 was enough to pick up the bonus point.
Game 34: Lions v Sharks
The Sharks scrapped their way to a 16-8 victory here; the 8-point winning margin somewhat smaller than most of the fans would have liked. There were margin points aplenty, though, but the bonus was shared by Kandas and Fatality, who both got the winning margin spot-on.
No GSP’s this week… the Blues and Bulls choking exercieses made pretty sure of that!
Ghost10 is still out in front, but the big movements happened further down the log, with fattmann emerging as the MVP for the round, with 6.7 points. Well done to PJLD who came in second with 6.5. The top three remains completely unchanged.
Here is the complete top 10:
Ghost10 is the only Sharksworld contributor still in the top 10. I have dropped down a stunning 7 places and am now virutally the only person in the pool to have no bonus points whatsoever! Here’s where the rest of us are:
|13||robdylan||31.50||Only 2/6 for me this week!|
|27||Sandshark||27.58||At least he did better than me this round!|
|28||PissAnt||27.33||We need a more consistent showing here|
|32||Western Sauce||24.33||Also only picked 2 correctly|
|36||PJLD||18.00||Big haul this round, but plenty ground to make up|
