Blues’ coach David Nucifora has made some changes to the team to take on the Bulls this Saturday night.

The Blues’ official website reports that Jerome Kaino moves to No.8, starting in place of Nick Williams, and Justin Collins will pick up Kaino’s spot.

“NIck has had a heavy workload so far in the season and will take bit of a breather on the bench first up,” Nucifora says.

“The same applies to Anthony Tuitavake, who will be rested completely this week also. With Nick Evans back in the 10 jersey, Isaia Toeava returns to centre and Joe Rokocoko and Rudi Wulf will take care of the wings. David Smith is given his chance this week and is named in the playing 22.”

Nick White and Bronson Murray cover the front row on the bench, as Tom McCartney will be getting some game time with his club Pakuranga.

“We’ve given Tom the opportunity to run a full 80 minutes with his club to get some decent time on the field,” Nucifora says.

Lock Anthony Boric also returns to the 22.

Blues team:
1. Tony Woodcock, 2. Keven Mealamu, 3. John Afoa, 4. Kurtis Haiu, 5. Troy Flavell (Capt), 6. Justin Collins, 7. Daniel Braid, 8. Jerome Kaino, 9. Danny Lee, 10. Nick Evans, 11. Rudi Wulf, 12. Benson Stanley, 13. Isaia Toeava, 14. Joe Rokocoko, 15. George Pisi.

  • at last they have realised that Williams is cumbersome, slow and just plain ineffective as a loose forward under the new laws.

  • and the Bulls persist with carthorse Wannenberg… when will they learn? Spies, Stegmann and van Heerden… that’s the combo that will work for them. Bakkies and Pakslae at lock… gee, all they need is a decent hooker and suddenly that’s a credible pack.
