Former Sharks rookie Howard Noble in included on the right wing, while long-term injury casualty Giscard Pieters, one of the Cheetahs’ few standout performers at Super 14 level last year, makes his long-awaited return on the left. The Cheetahs are feeling the withdrawal of key backs Wilton Pietersen, Robert Ebersohn and Fabian Juries, all of whom are unavailable due to national age group or sevens commitments. Former Griquas playmaker Divan van Zyl is at flyhalf, where he partners the versatile Jandré Blom.
In the pack, Darron Nell, recently dropped form the Super 14 side will join Kabamba Floors and Ashley Johnson in the loose trio. Floors himself is playing his way back into form following a minor injury. Another former Shark, prop Ronnie Uys, will operate at loosehead prop.
