Wallabies flanker Rocky Elsom has been called straight into the NSW Waratahs starting side for the Super 14 rugby match against the defending champion Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday.

RugbyHeaven Aus reports that Elsom returns after recovering from the thigh injury he suffered earlier this month.

Dean Mumm moves from blindside flanker to lock to make way for Elsom, with Will Caldwell dropping to the bench.

Wallaby prop Al Baxter also comes into the starting side while five forwards have been named on the bench against the powerful Bulls.

Rugby league recruit Timana Tahu was not been included in the 22 for the match despite recovering from injury.

The Waratahs don’t fly out for the match until tomorrow morning.

NSW Waratahs: Sam Norton-Knight, Lachie Turner, Rob Horne, Tom Carter, Lote Tuqiri, Kurtley Beale, Luke Burgess, WYcliff Palu, PHil Waugh (capt), Rocky Elsom, Dan Vickerman, Dean Mumm, Al Baxter, Tatafu Polota-Nau, Benn Robinson.
Res: Adam Freier, Matt Dunning, Will Caldwell, David Lyons, Sekope Kepu, Matt Carraro, Brett Sheehan.

  • What worries me is that the Bulls have nothing to play for really. So when the going gets tough they might just roll over like they did against the Canes. Apart from winning their own games of course, the Sharks & Stormers could really do with a Bulls win this weekend.

  • Rachel.

That is one of the reasons i feel we (The Sharks) won’t make the play-offs.

Purely because we need other teams to help us and those teams that need to help us have only pride to play for and I am afraid it looks like there is little of that left at the Bulls or Lions. The Cheetahs still seem to have it though.

We (The Sharks) only have ourselves to blame though.
