Getting to the serious business end and it’s very tight at the top. Still plenty of upsets and expect that to continue going into the final round. Let’s have a look at the standings in our very own Sharksworld pool in the score prediction game over at www.superbru.com.
Game 78: Hurricanes v Force
Nobody really gave the Force a chance here, but I guess they did quite well in restricting the Canes to just 4 points. Certainly the result has left the New Zealanders looking vulnerable going into the last week. 21-10 was the final score, and sharing the bonus for predicting Canes by 11 were six of us: Debs, Villie, Ollie, Sandshark, Wehan and me. Kudos to all.
Game 79: Bulls v Brumbies
Good work, Bulls. I mean, despite the terrible discipline that lead to two yellow cards in the first half. Somehow, the Brumbies were just never in this game and the Bulls were good value for their 28-17 win, again a margin of 11. Well done to PaarlGimmie for getting this one spot on.
Game 80: Highlanders v Blues
The JAFA Junta signaled their intentions pretty clearly here. 40-15, a win by 25 and Nick Evans back to his destructive best. The Blues are on a roll and want in on the semi-final action. Nobody in our pool was within margin-point range, but Whindy grabbed the bonus with his prediction of Blues by 18. Well done to the Queens old boy!
Game 81: Reds v Crusaders
The Reds joined a number of other teams his year who’ve still been well in it after an hour against the Crusaders, only to get blown away in the last quarter. The champs had to dig deep, and rely on the returning Dan Carter to bail them out here, but they duly prevailed, winning 27-21. Nobody got it spot on, but Ghost10 had the Saders by 5, while SeaShark and fattmann both picked them by 7. The three of them share the bonus as a result.
Game 82: Sharks v Cheetahs
Well done boys! a 33-14 victory was just what we needed to get things back on track. SauronShark just pipped me to the bonus here; he picked it spot on, Sharks by 19. Whindy was also bloody close, erring by a single point on the other side.
Game 83: Lions v Chiefs
Well I never! What a turnout for the books, Lions winning by 6. 33-27 was the score and a good few guys in the pool called it right. Well done for having the balls; I know I didn’t! Whindy, Kandas and sharkboy shared the bonus here for getting it spot on.
Game 84: Stormers v Waratahs
A 13-all draw was a pretty limp result to a contest that failed to deliver on any of its promise. Blame the weather if you like, but it really was a dog’s breakfast! Nobody in the pool predicted this, although anyone who had either side to win by less than five will at least have scooped a margin point for their troubles.
Far too many upsets here for there to be GSP’s. Whindy absolutely blew everybody away, though and with a superb return of 9.3 points, is this week’s clear MVP.
For the third week in a row, we have the same top three. The only movement in the top five is PaarlGimmie coming in for namboer in fifth spot after a solid round. Ghost10′s lead at the top is now over 10 points, so he is pretty likely to take the spoils, unless something extraordinary happens.
Here is the complete top 10:
Ghost10 is still the only Sharksworld contributor still in the top 10, but there is some definite movement further down. Here’s where the rest of us are:
|15||PissAnt||71.33||Lost 3 places this week. Has serious ground to make up in the final round|
|17||robdylan||70.67||Still where I was last week. A little disappointing, frankly|
|21||Sandshark||67.75||Up six spots! That’s a climb of 10 places in two rounds|
|22||Western Sauce||67.53||Up a spot, but KSA has leapfrogged him!|
|35||PJLD||50.88||Same place as last week|
