Two of our favourite Sharks players are celebrating their birthdays.
Firstly, congrats to Craig Burden, who turns 23 years old today. Craig was born, in Durban, on 13 May 1985. He attended Maritzburg College in the Midlands, before coming into the Sharks ranks via the Sharks Academy. He is currently studying Engineering, at the same time as being a professional rugby player. Not to mention making one of the most difficult positional switches it’s possible to make, that from wing to hooker.
Happy Birthday, Craig and all the best for the year ahead!
Tomorrow is an incredibly special day for our young hero, Francois Philippus Lodewyk Steyn, better known as just “Fransie”. That’s right, Frans is finally turning 21 tomorrow! Not bad, considering he’s played in a Super 14 final and won a World Cup already. Frans was born in Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape on 14 May 1987 and attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, before being snapped up by the Academy. He was a key member of the SA under 19 side that played in the World Cup the year after school and made his senior provincial and Springbok debuts the year after, at the age of 19. He has already represented his country on 17 occasions, scoring 4 tries, 3 drop goals and 5 penalties in the process.
Veels geluk, Frans! Alles van die beste vir die toekoms!
And one more – sharing his birthday with Fransie (although a few years earlier) is regular contributor MornéN, AKA PissAnt. Many happy returns, old boy!Tweet
