Rookie centre Rob Horne has been recalled to start for New South Wales in their Super 14 rugby semi-final against the Sharks on Saturday.

Foxsports reports that teenager Horne takes over at outside centre from Matt Carraro for the Sydney Football Stadium clash, with league recruit Timana Tahu again kept on the bench.

Horne has impressed when starting this season but was rested on the bench from the last round’s win over Queensland.

Al Manning has been called up as reserve hooker, with Adam Freier promoted to start in place of the injured Tatafu Polota-Nau.

Starting XV: Sam Norton-Knight; Lachie Turner, Rob Horne, Tom Carter, Lote Tuqiri; Kurtley Beale, Luke Burgess; Wycliff Palu, Phil Waugh (capt), Rocky Elsom; Dan Vickerman Dean Mumm; Al Baxter, Adam Freier, Benn Robinson.
Replacements: Al Manning, Matt Dunning, Will Caldwell, David Lyons, Brett Sheehan, Matt Carraro, Timana Tahu.

  • I just hope Lawrence refs the scrums properly….they have weak props. In addition I would say we have a better backline then them.

Give them grunt up front Sharks for the first 20 to 30, scrum and counter-rucking with venom (keep the discipline), maul up field and then let our game breakers have a go at that backline.
