Wildeklawer Griquas entertain Free State Cheetahs at Absa Park Kimberley on Friday afternoon in their opening 2008 Currie Cup Fixture at 3.30 pm.
Players who are not included for this opering match are; Bjorn Basson with emerging Boks, Darryl Coeries injured, Regardt Dreyer injured, Barry Geel injured, Rohann Kitshoff, Lauwrence Lombaard, Louwtjie Louw injured, Baldwin McBean injured, Siviwe Magaba injured, Jeremy Plaatjies injured, Sarel Pretorius emerging Boks, Brendon Snyman injured and Bees van Dyk injured. But it shows that Griquas still have depth in the team, but alas for the injuries and other duties.
Coach Dawie Theron said that his men had worked very hard at practice last week and this week, with them taking a rest day on Wednesday and ending off their practice sessions with a closed captains prctice on Thursday. He is happy with the squad and are just as good as their opposition and it will not be an easy clash on Friday as the Cheetahs are the defending Currie Cup Champions and would not like to loose this double fold encounter, the OFM Cup included and will go all out to win.
Griqualand West Rugby Union’s CEO, Cassie Cartens pleads that the public of Kimberley and surrounds come in their droves to support their team.
