The Valke have selected the 2,04 meter tall former SA Under-21 lock Wouter Moore for their Currie Cup match against the Boland Kavaliers at Bosman Stadium in Brakpan on Friday night.
IOL reports that Moore and prop Rassie van Vuuren have been seconded by the Blue Bulls to play for the Valke in the Currie Cup competition. Van Vuuren was selected on the bench.
Moore’s availability added depth to the lock position at the Valke and he will partner Marius Coetzer, a very talented lineout exponent.
Valke coach Rudy Joubert has persisted with the talented True Blue Smit at flyhalf for the Currie Cup opener. Partnering Smit with former Bulls Under-20 scrumhalf Gerrie Odendaal.
Odendaal’s understudy is another former Bulls Under-21 player Poerie van Rooyen.
Moore, the son of former EP lock Frans Moore, played first class rugby for the Sharks before signing a contract with the Blue Bulls.
Another new recruit who will be on debut with the Valke is flanker Emile Verster, who joined the East Rand outfit recently.
Flanker Uwe Sauer will make his Currie Cup debut on the side of the scrum, and should tap in the rich experience of number eight Sean Plaatjies.
