Several key men in Naka Drotske’s team have paid the price for the unconvincing win over Griquas in the opening round. The Cheetahs coach has named his side for the second-round clash against the Lions.
Inside centre Meyer Bosman is over his injury and comes straight into the number 12 jersey, replacing Namibian Hendrik Meyer. Also gone is flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter, replaced in the run-on team by Chris Rossouw. Neither Potgieter nor Meyer makes the 22 at all this week, with the exciting young Rob Ebersohn named on the bench for the first time. Gavin Passens is in for Jongi Nokwe in the only other change to the backline. Sevens star Fabian Juries comes onto the bench in the place of Hennie Daniller and will look to provide an unpredictable aspect later in the game.
Kobus Calldo is again named at tighthead – last week he was down to start, but was replaced by Drew van Coller at the last minute. Young former-wrestler Philip Lemmer is named on the bench; Ronnie Uys is the man who loses out in an other-wise unchanged forward division. Former Lion Schalk van der Merwe will hope to build on a solid performance at the back of the scrum in Kimberley.
