Plumtree rings the changes

The Sharks have welcomed back Bradley Barritt into the side for the Blue Bulls clash at Loftis on Saturday following last week’s absence, and this is the silver lining on what could be a gloomy cloud.

Following two mediocre performances that nevertheless have taken the coastal side to the top of the log, the Sharks have the opportunity to put a bit of daylight between themselves and the chasing pack, failing which they will join a conglomeration of sides all around the 8-10 log point mark.

The Bulls at home are always a tough prospect, and despite a good record at Loftus, the Sharks face an uphill battle, somewhat eased with the recall of their midfield general, but also hampered with the loss of the physical Steven Sykes at flank and the inclusion of a somewhat unknown quantity in Nic Strauss who has never played above Vodacom Cup or second division UK rugby.

Rory Kockott, the ideal scrummy against the Bulls because of his tenacity and in-your-face play, not to mention his educated boot, will not be making the trip after injurying his ankle last week and Scott Mathie will start in his place. He has able back-up in Charl McLeod on the bench who some might feel would be better suited to start.

Alistair Hargreaves has been battling flu all week and the more senior Albert van den Berg will start, Hargreaves though will play off the bench. In a rotational change, BJ Botha will start with Jannie du Plessis named amongst the reserves.

An interesting selection has been made with College Rovers’ fullback, the exciting Chris Jordaan, named in the Number 22 jersey, and following a few lacklustre performances from Stefan Terblanche despite his experience, the youngster could well turn out to be one of the new breed of Sharks that have been unearthed in the Currie Cup.

Sharks Lineup:

15. Stefan Terblanche
14. Monty Dumond
13. Waylon Murray
12. Andries Strauss
11. Henno Mentz
10. Brad Barritt
9. Scott Mathie
8. Keegan Daniel
7. Nic Strauss
6. Jacques Botes
5. Johann Muller ( Capt )
4. Albert van den Berg
3. BJ Botha
2. Skipper Badenhorst
1. Deon Carstens

Replacements

16. Craig Burden
17. Jannie du Plessis
18. Alistair Hargreaves
19. Skholiwe Ndlovu
20. Charl McLeod
21. Riaan Swanepoel
22. Chris Jordaan

Looking at the side in the cold light of day.. apart from Strauss ( who not a lot is known; Plum was not the worst flank and he does know a thing or two)not to bad.

  • Hi folks, I need some quick help on drinking games, Indian War signs to be exact. What are the rules for it again?

I have my farewell with the girls tonight and they want some SA drinking games.

I have coinage, nominations, kyalami, fuzzy duck and indian war signs in mind. But I can’t remember if there is any talking in IWS

  • Will paste it here too…

Dont know that game, but here is a fun one.

Play the Police’s classic Roxanne, and as you sit in a circle (or something that resembles a circle) you drink every time the word ‘Roxanne’ is mentioned in the song, once you are done, the next guy/girl drinks and the next and so on.

Trick is, you have to be finished with your drink by the time the next ‘Roxanne’ comes along and if anyone misses a ‘Roxanne’ the song is stopped, and started again until you get through the whole song.

    Our record is 7 times!

It gets fun with the chorus!

Ollie we Do Train Ride…Everyone brings a bottle of her favourite shooter – You take a big glass (the locomotive) – pour a tot of each in there…now pack matches in squares like the “wa’s” behind the ttrain – in each square you put a different tot-glass with a different shooter. Take 2 dices – whenever someone throws “7″ you take away a match starting from the back – the person removing the last match of thar square gets to have the shooter…untill you get to the “locomotive” same rule apply..

Sounds not TOO exciting, but I cannot remember (being ableto LOL!)doing more than two train rides per occasion….

You can speed it up by say – if someones throws 7 or 3….make up the rusles as you go!

  • @I’ce (TKMITFM) (Comment 17) : I know another cool game. It’s called Monk’s Pride. Basically you all sit in a circle with a bottle of Vodka in the middle and stare at it the whole night. You can vary the game environment by playing cards or talking about the ANC, but the winner is the person who manages to avoid picking up the bottle and having a swig…fantastic fun.

    1. Find a brick wall and a box of table tennis balls.
    2. Player stand facing the wall, about 4-6 inches from the wall.
    3. Someone else drops a tabletennis ball from about 1 foot above players head so that it passes between player and the wall.
    4. Player attempts to crush the table tennis ball against the wall with his forehead as it drops past.
    5. If you miss, you drink and try again.

Don’t try this unless you are very drunk already.

We had a no laughing, no talkin, wrong sign, wrong person rules…and I could not resist the indian howling thing off course…somewhere in between the clappin…

This is one of the worst Sharks teams I’ve seen named for a long time. That backline especially is shambolic.
