Boland coach Deon Davids made two changes to his starting line-up for Saturday’s Currie Cup rugby match against the Lions at Coca-Cola Park in Johannesburg.
News 24 reports that Fullback Justin Peach did not recover in time from a bout of flu and is replaced by Sevens star Stefan Basson.
And up front Cecil Kemp comes in from the bench to replace Coenie Basson at lock. Basson left for France where he will play for Bourgoin for the next two years.
Stefan Basson produced some thrilling runs when re replaced Peach in the second half against Griquas last weekend. He therefore deserves to find himself in the startling line-up.
However, Peach’s accurate goal kicking will be surely missed.
This duty will now hang on the shoulders of promising young centre Lionel Cornelius.
Towering Bradley Mockford made an impressive start for the Cavaliers last weekend and could prove to be a kingpin up front.
Davids is also happy that Dries van Schalkwyk, Frankie Horne and Zolani Mofu are developing into a solid loose trio combination.
Another SA Sevens star, Renfred Dazel, will start on the bench for the first time this season after he suffered with an ankle injury the last couple of weeks.
The team: Stefan Basson, John Daniels, Piet van Zyl (capt), Lionel Cornelius, Alvin Hugo, Elgar Watts, Dewaldt Duvenage, Dries van Schalkwyk, Frankie Horne, Zolani Mofu, Bradley Mockford, Cecil Kemp, Andries Human, Clemen Lewis, Janro van Niekerk.
Replacements: Pieter Wium, Jean Botha Frikkie Spies, Whalied Heyns, Marnus Hugo, Deon Scholtz, Renfred Dazel.
