IN SA Rugby these days, it’s generally a case of “pick a Strauss, any Strauss”.
When deciding on who to call in to replace the suspended Bismarck du Plessis for Saturday’s test against the Walalbies, it was Free State hooker Adriaan who got the nod. His cousin Richardt is another Strauss who may have been eligible, since he plays hooker. Sharks duo Andries (a centre and Richardt’s brother) and Nic (a flanker and seemingly not related) were not considered for obvious reasons.
Strauss will be on his way to Perth to sit on the Bok bench as we speak. It’s good news for the Sharks, since he won’t be included in the Free State team for this weekend’s Currie Cup clash in Bloemfontein.Tweet
