Naas Olivier has been named in the WP 22 to take on the Valke in Brakpan this weekend!
As predicted, the frankly baffling decision to release virtually all of WP’s young flyhalf talent to other provinces has resulted in Alistair Coetzee having no option but to include the recently-returned Olivier in the number 21 jersey.
Boland scrumhalf Dewald Duvenage comes straight into the starting team, with Alistair Siegelaar on the bench and Paul Delport playing club rugby. PJ Vermeulen and Morgan Newman swap jerseys; the former will start in 13.
Justin Melck comes in for Pieter Myburgh in the only change to the pack, with Pieter Louw and Conraad Britz the second and third row replacements on the bench.
Here is the side, again captained by Gcobani Bobo:
15 Gio Aplon, 14 Tonderai Chavanga, 13 PJ Vermeulen, 12 Gcobani Bobo (capt), 11 Wylie Human, 10 Willem de Waal, 9 Dewald Duvenage, 8 AJ Venter, 7 Francois Louw, 6 Justin Melck, 5 Ross Skeate, 4 Adriaan Fondse, 3 Brok Harris, 2 Deon Fourie, 1 Wicus Blaauw
16 Simon Westraadt, 17 Schalk Ferreira, 18 Pieter Louw, 19 Conraad Britz, 20 Alistair Siegelaar, 21 Naas Olivier, 22 Morgan Newman

Great.
YEAH!
oh wait
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
@PJLD (Comment 2) : he he he
Way to grow the young talent. Sheesh, suppose we’ll just spend a bomb buying the next greatest from some other union.
Maybe we should just move Wylie to flyhalf?
I can’t believe this.
@molly (Comment 4) : or getting even more has-beens (or never-wheres) back from France
Rob
Now i know how you feel about Oom Rudi.
Naas? what a joke.
Problems must have been well-peeved when FS pipped them to the signing of Kleintjips….
@Le Requinny (Comment 10) : both de Waal and Rossouw have looked better than our saviour flyhalf signing
Delport,club rugby?! Naas?! What next, they going to announce Kobus van Der Merwe is back as head coach.
Sauce
I thought Ignatius was one of your favourite players…
@wpw (Comment 13) : let’s try not get confused between the Ignatiuses Botha and Olivier!
BTW, is Len (Valke) Olivier Naas’s brother?
Not sure Rob.
Didn’t Len play age group rugby at the Tswane Cows???
@wpw (Comment 15) :
Yes. He also looks a bit Meisiekind-ish, surprising they are not related…
@wpw (Comment 15) : he did.
here’s the side they’ll be facing:
Falcons: 15 Nicky Kritzinger, 14 Dewald Pretorius, 13 Rouan Cloete, 12 Hanno Coetzee (captain), 11 Johan Swartz, 10 Len Olivier, 9 Gerrie Odendaal, 8 Sean Plaatjies, 7 Warren Perkins, 6 Reg Muller, 5 Marius Coetzer, 4 Wouter Moore, 3 Nico Pretorius, 2 Ryno Barnes, 1 Frik Venter.
Replacements: 16 Jody Jeneker, 17 Rassie van Vuuren, 18 Reggie Perkins, 19 Emile Verster, 20 Freddie van Zyl, 21 Jeff Perkins, 22 Dean Bergsteedt.
Naas? seriously?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
@Big Fish (Comment 20) : And Skipper Badenhorst as our first choice hooker
@robdylan (Comment 21) :
You utter bastard!
@Big Fish (Comment 22) : you see young Jody has moved on? I fear he took my advice
@robdylan (Comment 23) :
He had his chances and didnt take them. I fear that a lack of consistency in his throwing was his undoing. I once expected much of him, but alas, he has taken the low road – for now.
@Big Fish (Comment 24) : soon that whole Valke team will be full of ex-Sharks
Pretty surprise to see Dewald in WP 9.
Look like bOland had swopped him for Dollie. Dewaldt is however a much better talent then either Siegelaar or Delport. Boland having Marnus and Papier.
@PaarlBok (Comment 26) : I still reckon it’s bollocks that WP can just grab any Boland player they like in the middle of the season
I’d prefer the real Naas.
Naas? Honestly…
Robd is there no post worthy news re-the Lions..
Just noticed they are 4th on the log..how did they get there..
@CoffeeShopBok;-) (Comment 30) : they hacked into the log system
I will look for a Lions story for you
Robdylan
Naas Olivier is a former Shark player?
It seems as if not all people in Sharksworld like him.
Did he make any mistakes?
@H.O. (Comment 32) : nope – former Valke and WP flyhalf. He was not very good

hi guys.. nice site… my first time on
just on the Len Olivier guy – i`m pretty sure his Wynand`s brother… i`m quite sure you guys dont know him, but he plays/played for the bulls at a time
@VanWilder (Comment 35) : Van Wilder! Party time…
Welcome to the site…. I’m pretty sure they said on Friday night that Len is not related to Wynand. I thought he was related to Naas.
@robdylan (Comment 36) :
It’s Van Wilder Party Liaison!
@VinChainSaw (Comment 37) : that’s the one!
Wynand and Len attended both Affies high school in Pretoria.
But I have not any informations whether they are brothers…
@H.O. (Comment 39) : Affies! So that’s why I don’t like either of them.
@robdylan (Comment 33) : didn’t he play for Leopards?
@PJLD (Comment 41) : yes, he did. Minnow teams all look the same to me.
ok – so Naas was born in Klerksdorp and went to Potch HTS.
Wynand born in Welkom and went to Riebeeckstad Primary, then Affies
Len born in Pretoria, went to Hennopspark Primary, then Affies.
Based on that, I don’t reckon any of them are related.
jip, i`m that VanWilder, anyone seen Tara???
about the olivier guys – i think we all agree that any olivier player should be banned and deported to play overseas…
@VanWilder (Comment 44) : I like your style!
You see Tara in the whipped cream bikini?
Ok, maybe not a suitable subject…
@VanWilder (Comment 46) : being Anti-Olivier doesn’t count as biased… it’s just common sense
