Adriaan Strauss is the first Springbok to be released for the Absa Currie Cup series.

Coach of the Vodacom Free State Cheetahs, Naka Drotske, confirmed to OFM Sport that Strauss was available for Friday’s clash against the Falcons at Vodacompark.

This after Strauss played in his test debut against the Wallabies in Perth on Saturday.

Strauss will most probably replace Jaco du Toit as hooker in the starting line-up of the Cheetahs, with Richardt Strauss who will still sit on the bench as the replacement hooker. Drotske confirmed he will not rest any of his regular players as the Falcons will be a very difficult team to beat.

Duanne Vermeulen (flanker) can also play in his first game, while there is uncertainty over the availability of captain Hendro Scholtz. The Bok flanker injured his shoulder in Free State’s 31-9 win over the Sharks at the weekend
