National champions Eastern Province have provided 12 players to the squad of 28 announced by SA Rugby for the unofficial women’s Test series against the Barbarians next month.
Rugby 365 reports that only seven of the country’s 14 unions have players in the squad.
The Springbok women’s side will play a women’s Barbarians side on August 9 in a curtain-raiser to the Springbok-Argentina game at Ellis Park and again at Newlands before the Springbok-All Blacks game a week later.
The players will assemble in Port Elizabeth for a training camp in Port Elizabeth from July 28-30.
South African Women’s squad:
Blue Bulls: Ingrid Botha, Yolanda Meiring.
Boland: Natasha Hofmeester.
Border: Mandisa Williams, Portia Jonga, Fundiswa Plaatjie.
Eastern Province: Nomathamsanqa Faleni , Lamla Momoti, Marie-Lee Erasmus, Saloma Booysen, Lorinda Brown, Pumeza Gadu, Ramona Brown, Zenay Jordaan, Nomsebenzi Tsotsobe, Zandile Njoko, Cebisa Kula, Namhla Siyolo.
Western Province: Nadine Barnard, Nosipho Poswa, Nomtha Xape.
Griffons: Nombulelo Mayongo.
