Vodacom WP looseforward Justin Melck has been loaned to UK based club Munster for the next two months.

Melck, who has mostly featured off the bench for Vodacom WP during this years’ Absa Currie Cup, will leave for Ireland this week. Munster are the 2008 Heiniken Cup Champions and will host London Irish in a pre-season friendly on Friday before playing their Magners League opener against Edinburgh Rugby at Murrayfield on Friday 5 September.

WPrugby reports that Melck has earned 45 WP caps since debuting in the Vodacom Cup in 2004 and is comfortable in anywhere in the back row. The former Rondebosch Boys learner made his Vodacom Stormers Super Rugby debut in 2006 under then coach Kobus van der Merwe, graduating into a regular staring berth at 8. Melck was unable to find a place in the 2008 Vodacom Stormers squad after recovering from a knee injury sustained late in the 2007.

The Vodacom WP Springbok contingent, which includes looseforwards Schalk Burger and Luke Watson, will return for Provincial duty in time for the Absa Currie Cup clash against the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein next week.
