WP get CC Green light for ALL their Boks

Conrad Jantjes, Percy Montgomery, Jean de Villiers, Ricky Januarie, Luke Watson, Schalk Burger, Andries Bekker and Brian Mujati will arrive at WP Rugby’s High Performance Centre in Bellville following their three month stint with the National team, today.

Vodacom WP coach Allister Coetzee confirmed that he had been given the go-ahead by national convenor of selectors Peter Jooste to field all his Springboks.

WP’s official website reports that Province will welcome back the experience that comes with the returning professionals, after a disappointing loss against the Blue Bulls at Loftus on Friday night. The Blue and White Hoops, who were fielding a string of under 21 players, managed to stay in the game gallantly for 65 minutes. But playing with 14 men for 20 minutes due to two sin-bins, eventually cost Vodacom WP the game.

Vodacom WP will travel to Bloemfontein to face defending Absa Currie Cup Champions the Free State Cheetahs at Vodacom Park on Saturday.

In addition to the Springboks, flyhalf Peter Grant and wing Sireli Naqelevuki are also available for selection this week.

Vodacom WP’s match 22 will be announced on Wednesday.

  • Now I have relooked and there is nothing ambiguous about either this article or the Blue Bulls article relating to Bok availibilty.

So why then do the Bulls have to wait until Wednesday and WP get told today.

    oh okay.

It is mathematically possible but you would need the Lions to lose a few and WP can’t afford any losses.

5 games, left 25 points on the table. Anything is still possible.

Think about this… WP beat the Lions and we beat the Lions. That’s already 8 points that the Lions don’t get… assuming WP get maximum points from all their remaining games, they can squeak it

Remember, our star-studded team delivered very little to write home about for large portions of the Super 14… This weekend’s match against the Bulls is going to make or break our season. To be honest, I wouldn’t be absolutely gutted if Frans Steyn didn’t play.

  • But I am very far behind…and with the Bokke back I’ll get less points as well…
So I am out of it…a top 10 finish will be great though…

So in that case we need to hope for a NZ win in Brisbane to ensure we stay 2nd.

  • Boks currently have 87.75 ranking points.

If Aus win by 1-15 points, Aus go to 87.69. NZ go to 90.04. We stay 2nd.
