The Boland Cavaliers have opted to use ‘borrowed’ players from neighbours Western Province in a new loose forward combination for Saturday’s Currie Cup match against the Lions at Wellington.
Rugby 365 reports that Angelo Brinkhuis is the only loose forward that retains his place after last weekend’s 69-19 slaughter by the Blue Bulls at Loftus Versfeld.
Coach Deon Davids has decided to make use of two loan players from Western Province for this match.
David Hendricks, a former Boland player, comes in at No.8 at the expense of Whalied Heyns, while a former Boland Under-21 lock, Josh Strauss, comes in at No.7 flank.
Strauss is currently playing for NTK club in Parow.
At scrumhalf, Marnus Hugo is back in the starting line-up with livewire Danie van der Merwe starting on the bench after a solid performance against the Blue Bulls.
Lionel Cornelius, who has had a superb season at centre, remains on the replacement bench while centre Hein Myburgh also makes a welcome return after being injured in the Vodacom Cup competition.
