The Valke have named an uninspiring team to take on the weakened Bulls at Loftus Versveld this weekend. Anyone expecting entertaining rugby should probably pick another game to watch, given the quality of the teams selected.
Somewhat unsurprisingly, very few of the “Valke-Bulls” will be in action this week, with Wouter Moore mysteriously “unavailable” and Dewald Pretorius dropped to the bench. Regular fullback Johan “Spear Tackle” Jacskon (what is it with the Bulls and spear tackles?) is the only contracted Bulls player in the Valke starting lineup and he’ll be at centre this week.
Scrumhalf Poerie van Rooyen will be on the wing, while Sean Plaatjies is back at number 8. Marius Coetzer comes in at lock to partner Nico Luus, in place of Moore.
In other news, it appears hooker Rayno Barnes has agreed to play for Griquas next year, joining the merry-go-round caused by the Lions signing Griquas rake Hans van Dyk. Centre Rouan Cloete, has seemingly opted to cut out the middle man and join the Lions directly.
