  • SuperBru picking statistics
    Picks for Sharks 12967 (84.64%)
    Picks for Lions 2345 (15.31%)
    Picks for draw 8 (0.05%)

A lot more than I expected actually

Only 7 of our 96 players have picked the Lions. (7,2 %) we obviously have the brighter punters on here.

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 15) : my lab at varsity. not an analyst, i am a pyrometallurgist (take metals out of rocks, with fire, smelting etc).

so today i was calibrating my temperature sensor to be accurate at 1200 deg so that when i do my experiments next week the temp will be accurate, the boring and tedious part of the work….

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 17) : ah, i am originally a chemical engineer, so worked a tiny bit woth online GCs, AAs etc. but ended up specialising in metallurgy.

mostly the analysis i do, when i need to do it, is SEM, microprobe, XRF, XRD etc. Not much online stuff though cos everything gets eaten in the furnaces.

had a quick browse through the “get to know everyone” thread yesterday, bloody interesting the diversity of people on this site, i love it. gonna take a proper read through it soon though, cos i didn’t have time to really pay attention yesterday.

what stuff are u involved in, GC or AA though.

Work with physical property analysis. (CFPP, Pour Point, Freeze point, Viscosity, Density, RVP etc.) and also do a lot of work with XRF (just commissioned an online one in Yanbu a few months back).

Also done lots of work on GC (ABB my favourite). and FTIR. strangely enough things have always conspired against me and I have almost NO Mass Spec or UV experience.

  • Refs get away with a lucky call.

Sykes gets the ball and goes over. Bismarck LOOKS to interfere with a lions player.

Ref blows the whistle, and Sykes doesn’t put the ball down.

Ref then goes to look to see if it WAS interference by Bismarck.

TMO says yes it was. (I don’t think it had any influence)

Had the TMO NOT agreed what would mark Lawrence have done? Even better what would Sykes have done (with himself) for not scoring the try.

I’d be lying if I said that thought didn’t cross my mind as well. But all we are doing now is giving TT ammunition to say Kaplan would have carded one of the Sharks.

NOT AT ALL. I thought he was great.

found his actions of giving the captain the choice on the advantage a bit perplexing.

  • What a good victory!

SHarks played good knockout rugby – secure the game early as possible, and then dictate the pace and territory.

The Lions didn’t seem to realise that the territory game was playing into our hands – they needed to attack us and look to force errors.

Kanko was generally very good, while I think the whole team was pretty good really.

Must agree that the officiating wasn’t great.

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 191) : I thought he was making up his own laws as he went along. And the decision to call Sykes back was pathetic

A few shaky calls, and he allowed the Lions to slow down the game a lot.

That said, he at least addressed their negative play at the breakdown (sorry CSB – I had to say it).

I must have had blinkers on in previous games but they were very negative and it irritated the shit out of me.

    You were right
