The Stormers started their preparations for their 2009 Super 14 campaign on Monday 27 October 2008 without finalising the final squad for the 2009 season.

Super14.com reports that a Stormers statement gave no ideas as to who was in or out of the squad for the 2009 season and stated that the squad will only be named as and when it is required by SANZAR.

“Initial conditioning training is individual athlete focussed and gym orientated,” said Senior Professional Coach Rassie Erasmus.

“The Vodacom Stormers squad will remain large, flexible and fluid as we continue to assess and prepare options for the season.”

As it stands SANZAR have not finalised the dates for the 2009 Super 14 so teams are struggling to make their final preparations for the tournament as they do not know where they are going to play and when they will have matches.

  • So basically they haven’t started any preps for the S14…since there’s no squad.

Just a bunch of guys training in Cape Town. PJLD might actually be part of the training squad.

  • they are starting early to allow luke time to recover from the injuries he will sustain during the first training session.

i thought the 2009 s14 had been finalised. a fixture list was published about a month ago. maybe it hasn’t reached cape town yet.

No it wasn’t I even highlighted the DRAFT and Probable portions to make sure we all knew it was a draft and only a probable fixture list.

one of the BIG issues is the play-offs and another is the Waratahs having to travel to SA twice.

  • @KSA Shark © (Comment 23) : yes it is all coming back now. superrugby published a list, then a week or two later you published one that said the board wanted to change some things. well i hope the sharks don’t get the raw end, because their current fixture list is looking mighty fine.
