Leinster’s South African prop CJ van der Linde is on standby to join up with the Springbok camp if Brian Mujati is deemed unfit to make it onto the substitutes bench.
Jannie du Plessis, who joined up with the squad this week, will start at tighthead prop due to Mujati still carrying a shoulder injury. Captain John Smit moves back to hooker, where he is covering for the injured Bismarck du Plessis.
“Brian is still struggling with an injury. We’re working hard to get him ready. It will be unfair to throw him in at the deep end with an injury,” said Bok coach Peter de Villiers.
“CJ is close by. If Brian is not declared fit, CJ will replace him. We asked him to be ready. Our medical team believes that Brian will be fit.”

just get christoffel in there quickly please.
Is Leinster playing this weekend?
Sort of messes them around a bit.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 2) : No.
@McLovin (Comment 3) :
Then I would say get him to the team and get him integrated. If he doesn’t play then so be it, but rather have him prepared than joining the squad 2 or 4 hours before kick-off.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 4) : That would just be far too sensible.
@McLovin (Comment 5) :
More sensible than sending Juan home on the evening before the match is to be played.
Why not keep him there to travel home with the team.
@KSA Shark © (Comment 6) : I don’t understand that. Seems a bit odd. But I’ve long ago given up on trying to understand the enigma that is SA Rugby.
Does anyone remember what a poor Tri Nations he had???
He was a walking yellow card for the Boks this year.
Having said that, he is a much better option than Mujati.
@wpw (Comment 8) :
I wouldn’t even go as far as playing him ahead of Mujati. puerely because of his discipline issues. But if Mujati is injured then it is the right thing to do.
ONLY thing really.
due to Mujati still carrying a shoulder injury
I reckon Bakkies gave him a lummie after the game just to make sure
