RWC 2007 replay!!!??? Well not really.
England has six players left from their 2007 RWC Final match 22, the Springboks have eleven. That may lead some of us to think this should be an easy win. Rugby doesn’t work like that though.
This game will be anything but one-sided.
I expect there will be more than just the odd tense moment in this match-up and Nigel Owens will do well to keep a beady eye out for unnecessary niggle from either team.
Springbok bruiser Bakkies Botha went on record this week as saying “beating England means a lot to South Africans” and “There is nothing you are not prepared to do for your team to win.” Botha has never beaten England at Twickenham and will be doing his damndest to make sure he manages to get that box ticked this afternoon.
Matt Stevens, also a South African, on the otherhand has always been on the losing side when England have played South Africa, anywhere in the world.
With a high of only 5 Degrees Celsius predicted for Twickenham, expect most of the heat to be coming off the field.
KSA prediction: Boks to win by less than 10 points without at any stage being comfortably ahead. Expect a nail-biter.
Kick-off at Twickenham at 14:30 GMT (16:30 RSA)
Referee: Nigel Owens (Wales)
Assistant referees: Alain Rolland (Ireland), Romain Poite (France)
TMO: Peter Allan (Scotland)
