Getting older sometimes means you lose your childlike passion for things…
As readers of this site we have all retained a sometimes child like passion for rugby. I know I have, sometimes to the detriment of my relationship with loved ones and friends who see blue where I see black and white!
One favourite passion I have seen dwindle is my excitement for Christmas and all that goes with it. Perhaps when we grow up and become fathers and husbands (or wives and mothers), we become too occupied by life’s daily challenges. This year, in honour of my mother (a massive Sharks fan), I have decided to bring back my own childlike passion for Christmas and hopefully be able to make some kids lives a little better for a day.
Around Johannesburg we have a number of hospitals, orphanages and charities filled with kids who, through no fault of their own are in situations most of us can’t imagine. With the help of some willing mates, I will be going to as many of these places as we can, dressed as Santa and his elves, with gifts donated anonymously via this site. There are 3 drop off points around JHB and the option to have presents collected if really needed and hopefully we get enough to reach a few hundred kids.
Please guys, let’s give a little back. Head on over to www.ronald.co.za and find out how you can donate a gift, however small, to make a disadvantaged child’s Christmas just that little bit merrier this year.
Merry Christmas Sports fans. Hope you get spoilt rotten!
