What is it with these All Black fellas? They just can’t seem to avoid the rough stuff when confronted by members of the fairer sex… shocking!
I’m not sure if you guys saw the story a few weeks back about flanker Adam Thompson. The big (and dare I say mutt-ugly?) blindside flanker appeared in court back in the land of the long white cloud, charged with assaulting his girlfriend. It doesn’t matter how much of a tough guy you are on the field, Adam – real men don’t hit girls. I hope you go to jail long enough for that message to sink in.
The latest incident involves former All Black wrecking-ball Jerry Collins, now a centre-ring performer for the circus that is Toulon Rugby Club in the south of France. It seems that young Mr Collins, a veteran of 48 tests for the men in black, is allegedly being investigated by the French police following claims of assault against a woman.
There seems to be some doubt as to how the woman’s injuries – which incidentally were quite severe – actually came about, though. The femme fatale in question claims that Collins pushed her into a ditch and that she suffered “terrible emotional and physical damage” as a result… something along those lines anyway. A different (and, I must admit, more plausible version of the story) claims that she had followed Collins back to his home and sustained said injuries by falling into a ditch, while she was in the process of breaking into his house. Into stalking much, Madame?
The Club are, of course, standing by their man and endorsing the latter version of events. Perhaps it would simply be more expedient to wave some of the Boudjellal millions at her to make the whole thing go away. Come to think of it, that’s probably all she was after in the first place.
I guess the true story will out and, unlike his mate Thompson, I’m willing to give big JC the benefit of the doubt unless more concrete facts surface.

Hitting a woman is one of the most despicable things a man can do. I have no mercy for such animals.
@McLovin (Comment 1) : with you all the way.
@robdylan (Comment 2) : I’m also giving Collins the benefit of the doubt.
@McLovin (Comment 3) : yeah – this sounds like the chick was a deranged stalker who is trying to make the best of a bad situation…
I’ve noticed Toulon have slipped to 2nd last or something in the French top 14.
Maybe i should start a “stalking school”…these chicks no NOTHING!!
I’m too lazy to stalk.
@McLovin (Comment 7) : i cant think of a suitable stalkee
@PJLD (Comment 8) : neither can I. Will have to be someone that doesn’t move around too much.
@McLovin (Comment 9) :
Looks like vindication for Jez:
Allegations that former All Black Jerry Collins attacked a woman at his home in France were rejected by police, says his agent.
Collins’ Wellington-based agent, Tim Castle, said French police investigated the woman’s claims in October and found them “completely contrived”.
“Several witnesses who were at Jerry’s home that night say the so-called complainant and a friend turned up uninvited and were asked to leave,” he said.
“Her friend tried to persuade her to leave but she refused. Whatever injury befell her, and we don’t accept there were the injuries she claimed, were the result of her own actions and not Jerry’s.”
TV3 reported last night that the woman claimed Collins threw her into a gully.
“I am morally and physically shattered,” said the woman, in a report published in L’Equipe newspaper. “I had to spend six weeks on my back. I have a fractured sacrum, bruises, a twisted spine and fractured wrist.”
The Toulon Rugby Club, where Collins is captain, said it had made inquiries and was confident the flanker had “done nothing”.
A Toulon-based newspaper reported the woman had followed Collins home and fell off a five-metre wall into the gully while attempting to break in.
Mr Castle said Collins had been “very upset” by the media suggestions.
“It’s very disappointing, but it’s one of those things that can happen when you have players of the stature of Jerry Collins, whose company is very sought after.”
