There is a new rugby website on the horizon. JustRugby.
JustRugby will be launched ahead of the 2009 S14 with not one, but two competitions.
The prizes promise to be more exciting than ever with chances of winning tickets to watch the British & Irish Lions play in Durban.
Last Man Standing
Last Man Standing must be the simplest Rugby prediction game ever.
There are 14 teams playing in the Super 14 and all you have to do is pick ONE winner each weekend. It really is as simple as that, you only have to pick ONE winner each weekend to stay in the competition.
Once you have picked a team they will not be available to be picked again during the competition.
If the team that you pick loses you should drop out of the competition, but because we at JustRugby are so generous we are giving each player ONE lifeline that will allow you to stay in the competition should you pick a losing team. After that however you are on your own and should you pick a losing team again you will drop out.
Eventually there will be one person left standing and he will get to jump up and down in Durban.
The winner of this competition will get TWO tickets to watch the Springboks play the British & Irish Lions in Durban on Saturday the 20th of June 2009.
Just Rugby Fantasy league
Building on the success of our inaugural Sharksworld Currie Cup Fantasy League in 2008, Fantasy Rugby is back with a bang in 2009.
Pick a squad of 30 players to see you through the Super 14 and share in the highs (and lows) as their performances on the field score you points and propel you up the leaderboard.
Unlike other Fantasy League competitions, ours is pretty straightforward (and very low maintenance). Your squad is picked once at the start of the competition and doesn’t change over the course of 16 rounds. We’ll throw in a nominal number of free trades, just in case you need to replace a long-term casualty (or perennial non-performer) or two.
Your entire squad will score points based on their appearances for their franchises, how much time they actually spend on the field, their contribution to the team results and (of course) the tries, penalties, conversions and drop goals they score. In this year’s competition, you will have the ability to nominate a starting XV each week, as well as a squad captain. These guys will score you extra points so it’s a good idea to check in regularly to tweak your selections.
The Just Rugby Fantasy League is a serious battle of attrition – whose squad will have the quality in depth to emerge on top in the most grueling of international rugby competition? The winner of this competition will get TWO tickets to watch the Sharks play the British & Irish Lions in Durban on Wednesday the 10th of June 2009.
