Bulls coach Frans Ludeke has named injured wing Bryan Habana in his 26-man touring squad for the five-match Australasian road trip.
Habana, who was expected to be sidelined for between four to six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair his fractured hand last week, will most likely miss only one or two games.
Rugby 365 reports that the Bulls start their road trip when they face the Hurricanes on Friday – followed by encounters with the Highlanders, Crusaders, Waratahs and Brumbies.
After going four-from-four at the start of the season, the Bulls are sitting pretty at the top of the standings and the early return of Habana will be a major boost for the team.
The only casualty from this past weekend’s hard-earned 14-10 win over the Stormers is flank Jacques Burger, who has been replaced by Dewald Potgieter.
Apart from Burger the matchday squad that played against the Stormers will be joined by Wilhelm Steenkamp, Jaco Engels, Francois Hougaard, Potgieter and Habana.
Potgieter, like Habana, is still carrying an injury. However, he too is making good progress with his rehabilitation and is expected to make an earlier than expected return to the playing field.
Potgieter should be eligible for the Bulls’ first tour match, according to Ludeke.
