Not many people will want to vomit on this Springbok jersey!
Sport 24 reports that the new Springbok jersey is likely to be popular among Springbok supporters in spite of complaints about changing the old jersey.
The jersey will be the first with the national sports emblem on the left chest and the Springbok on the right.
The changes were made after talks between the South African Rugby Union and the Department of Sport and Recreation. It is viewed as a compromise and is likely to ensure the survival of the Bok emblem.
The word “rugby” appears underneath the Protea and the Springbok leaps to the left. It appears without a rugby ball on the right.
The supporter’s jersey has the words “SA Rugby” under the antelope, but the word “Springbok” will appear on the players’ jerseys.
The names of the two main Springbok sponsors – Canterbury and Sasol – also appear on the jersey. However, it is smaller than in the past.
SA Rugby are likely to make the jersey available next month, but it can be bought on the internet at worldrugbyshop The price is R825. It is not yet available at local retailers. The jersey is likely to sell for about R900 later this month when it is made available to shops.
Sharksworld Note: On Worldrugbyshop the “Pro” jersey (with a regular collar) is listed at US$99,99 and the “Test” jersey (as shown above) is listed at US$129,99.Tweet
