The Golden Lions Rugby Union will be following a detailed training programme from World Cup winning coach, Jake White ahead of their Currie Cup campaign.

Rugby 365 reports that White’s company is currently in the process of auditing the structures of the Union and he has put together a detailed six week training plan that will run until the Lions’ first game of the 2009 Currie Cup against the Bulls on July 18.

White also roped in World Cup-winning Springbok conditioning coach, Derek Coetzee, to do a workshop with all the Union’s conditioners and coaches.

  • Reckon they will come last. And instead of investing in youth structures and player resources they spent a bunch of money on a former coach trading on the fact he got lucky at the RWC.

  • oops  Eddie Moans looking over his shoulder, plus is he coaching or is he advising, saw Loffie’s reply and it does not look like Mr White was being entirely honest, which is a let down in light of all his bitching about being so badly treated by SARU.I am sure his wife woud be able to tell you about what a loyal person he is and he claims to be a Christian. I fear the Lions are on yet another road to hell, Bring back Louis Luyt, never thought I would say that either!!

  • @Whindy (Comment 4) : Jake found God because it meant retirement on a wine farm. But maybe i am a cynic…..As to Louis The Shit Farmer Luyt – Sounds like the Lions need an iron fisted approach to solve their woes – not a touchy feely mangement consultant.

I fear you are right. The iron fist and a 2s up to anyone that gets in the way, from Luyt is what is needed now.

  • Look Loffie asked to be judged on the 3 years ..no results ..thus he had to leave.
It nothing new how people are treated in SA Rugby our history is littered with bad governance.

Thing is the only guy that has alot to say now is Loffie ..make no mistake I supported him and think he was and is good coach but move along now.

In saying that I will be dumbfounded if they proceed to appointment the ex monas coach. The guy can’t even string a sentence together..

This will be well watched by many a Lions fan and I can assure you the slightest hint of bullshit and me and many more WILL be jumping ship.

Coming on 10 years now since we were half decent ..Pathetic !

  • @CoffeeShopBok;-) (Comment 7) : I heard that a whole lot of influential ex lion/Traansvaal players are getting together to try and sort things out, but as with all SARU institutions there is a very clear mandate and the people in power are appointed by the Club executives who surprise surprise are all in management positions and there is no way in hell they are going to vote their Maaitjie out he employs and pays them, anybody smell the fragrance of Gravy and the tic tack of trains!!
