Star loose forward Duane Vermeulen, who recently excelled for the Emerging Springboks against the touring British & Irish Lions, has not been included in the Western Province Currie Cup side to play the Sharks at Newlands on Saturday afternoon.
Sport24 reports that Vermeulen was one of the few players to have performed consistently well during the past Super 14, but he is battling with a hand injury which he sustained in the match against the Lions at Newlands a fortnight ago.
An interesting inclusion in the WP side is the seasoned All Black Chris Jack, who will lock the side’s scrum alongside Anton van Zyl, the former Lions lock.
Former Bulls three-quarter Frikkie Welsh, who has spent several seasons in Europe, makes a welcome return to the domestic game and has been picked on the wing in the WP side.
In a strange development WP have named two hookers, Hanyani Shimange and Deon, Fourie on the bench.

Nope. It was an u/21 game, in the fight he was on the field in his Number 1′s helping John Smit who was being clubbed. (So he was part of the team but not the 22 man squad)
Coming onto the field to get involved in a fight when you aren’t even in the Match 22 is typical bulls behavior though
