Vodacom Western Province have named their team to take on the Bulls at Loftus on Saturday.

Allistair Coetzee has made two forced changes to the starting lineup from the team that beat The Sharks in Cape Town last week, Ricki Januarie has been called up to the Bok squad which hands the starting 9 jersey to Dewald Duvenhage with Conrad Hoffman covering him on the bench. The guys in the backline better be wakey wakey because both these boys send ball alot quicker than what they have become used to.

The other change is that Gio Aplon comes in at fullback in place of Joe Pieterson who has failed to recover from a dead leg sustained against The Sharks(Why go I have thar scene from Bad Boys in my mind)I just hope Naqelivuki and Aplon can combine like they did against The Bulls in 2006 home and away.

The WP team for Saturday:

15. Gio Aplon
14. Frikkie Welsh
13. Morgan Newman
12. Peter Grant
11. Sireli Naqelevuki
10. Willem De Waal
9. Dewaldt Duvenage
8. Luke Watson (C)
7. Pieter Louw
6. Pieter Myburgh
5. Anton Van Zyl
4. Chris Jack
3. Brok Harris
2. Tiaan Liebenberg
1. Wicus Blaauw

Reserves:
16. Hanyani Shimange
17. JD Moller
18. De Kock Steenkamp
19. Deon Fourie
20. Conrad Hoffmann
21. Juan De Jongh
22. Tonderai Chavhanga

Seriously though, I’m not yet sold on the WP ‘revival’ just yet. They’ve won ONE match at home against a seriously under strength Sharks.

But should they manage to sneak a win tomorrow I’ll be over the moon.

  • @McLovin (Comment 13) : In the Cape that amounts to a revival, and if they win tomorrow you can add the words “of epic proportions”.
I think they can do it tomorrow.

In your opinion as WP supporter…..if Andries Bekker was available, would he be in the starting 15?

  • We’re on a Cup charge remember :!: A few years ago we played the Lions in the first game of the S14 and beat them in the rain(just just) and we were suddenly on top of our game and going for the title….we finished 11th.

Keep the fancy wing-locks for the bench

  • Until Bekker starts adding some grunt to his game he will remain a show pony. Good player but he needs to realise he aint no gamebreaking flyhalf come center.
