Poor bloody Joe Snyman has been dropped from the Lions 22 after just one outing. Loose forward replacement Derrick Minnie has been preferred to the former Sharks second rower for this weekend’s clash against the Cheetahs.
With the Sharks suddenly looking very thin in the second row, I wonder if Snyman might not have started to regret his move up the N3. One would think he’d have stood an odds-on chance of being in the Sharks match 22 this weekend.
In the only other change, the Lions schoolboy coach whose name I have yet to learn (Jake something? Oh no wait, he’s not actually the coach!) has rotated his tighthead options, with Gert Muller starting and Kevin Buys providing cover off the wood this weekend.

Snyman came on last week, and very, very late, dived on a try-scorer to concede a penalty. The Bulls kicked to the corner and I can’t recall the outcome, but quite possibly he’s been punished for stupid and blatant indiscipline.
The Lion started off very good last week, pity they could not protect their lead..THAT would have been one up the reccie for the bulls!!
Derick Minnie, any relation to ____

The reason why Minnie is on the bench is to cover for Cobus Grobbelaar as he might not be 100% fit, remember he went of 5 minutes into the 2nd half against the Blue Bulls.
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 20) :
Howzit Walter.
Any news and views about how things are in the camp. I’m still not sure how I feel about that winning ways bunch but I like the idea of Kevin de Klerk being the chief.
@Salmonoid (Comment 21) :
I’ll probably get a chance to chat to some of the players after the game tomorrow, haven’t had a chance as yet. I haven’t even met the new coach yet!
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 22) : have any of the players?
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 20) : thanks for clearing that up! You’ve been too scarce
@walter van transvaal.co.za (Comment 22) :
Great, let us know your thoughts.
Well, we seem to always struggle against the Cheetahs in the Currie Cup…I don’t know why. We last beat them in the CC in 2006, and our win ratio against them since 1991 is the worst of all the SA Teams, only 44.74%
