The Vodacom Blue Bulls’ world class open side flanker Deon Stegmann is still struggling with his ankle injury and won’t be considered for Friday’s Absa Currie Cup match against the Sharks in Durban.
There was a possibility that Stegmann might recover in time, but Dr Org Strauss confirmed on Monday afternoon that he won’t be eligible for the third round clash.
Apart from Stegmann – Pedrie Wannenburg (injury to his lung), Akona Ndungane (shin splints), John Mametsa (knee) and Burton Francis (general conditioning) are also on the injury list and won’t be able to face the Sharks, but all of them will be on the playing field in the near future.
Good news (for them) is that the 22 who played against the WP are all fit and no new injuries were sustained in the gutsy 30-22 victory.
