There’s some good news in the Western Province camp, as three players return from injury this week. Bolla Conradie, Hilton Lobberts and Francois Louw will all come into the selection frame for this weekend’s game against the Cheetahs at Newlands.
The news is less good for Brian Mujati, Adriaan Fondse and Duanne Vermeulen, who all look set to be out for a while still. This is in addition to a pair of promising youngster unlikely to feature at all this season, Nick Koster and prop JC Kritzinger.
Coach Allister Coetzee must surely consider a number of changes to his 22 this week, with Lobberts and Flo a good bet to come onto the bench in place of De Kock Steenkamp and Shimmie Shimange respectively. Deon Fourie could then move into the number 16 jersey to cover hooker, rather than being pressed into service as a makeshift loose-forward reserve.
Conradie for Conrad Hoffman is another possibility, although the real priority for the Province coaching staff at this stage must surely be to find a competent replacement for the Fijian Flop, Sireli Naqelevuki. The fat, lazy retreaded prop cost his side at least two clear tries against the Bulls and it’s high time that Tonderai Chavanga, or virtually anyone else, was given a run in his place.

And to be honest, I don’t know if I’d mess with the loosie combo at the mo, as much as I like Flo, the loosies are doing damn well.

@Salmonoid (Comment 32) : Sarecens and WP are linked by their parent company SAIL – so the exchange of players is an option – i cannot recall why he wasn’t playing for Saires anymore – might have been a dispute – so he has a contract until Sept to fulfil – so he got sent ot WP to meet his obligation.
