The coach of the Vodacom Blue Bulls, Frans Ludeke, has included Deon Stegmann as well as Pedrie Wannenburg in his starting XV for Friday’s crunch game in Bloemfontein against the Free State Cheetahs.

Stegmann (open side) is playing in a potent loose trio alongside Jacques Burger (blind side) and Pedrie Wannenburg (number 8) and because of this Dries van Schalkwyk moves out to the bench with Gerrit-Jan van Velze selected as the under 21’s captain.
Ludeke kept his backline as well as his tight five unchanged for Friday’s encounter, but Fudge Mabeta has recovered from his ankle injury and will be one of five forwards amongst the substitutes.
The other forwards at the side of Van Schalkwyk on the bench are Bandise Maku, Frik Kirsten and Jaco Engels which means the Bulls will have the luxury of an entire front row at their disposal.
It is also great to see that Francois Hougaard’s groin injury is something of the past and together with Burton Francis they will be the two backline substitutes.
Ludeke said at the weekly press conference which was held at Loftus on Tuesday that matches between the Blue Bulls and the Cheetahs are traditionally fiercely contested between the pack of forwards and for this reason he opted for a five two bench.
“It is very important that our forwards are fresh and in the game for the full 80 minutes and therefore it was great to be able to select a five two bench.
“We all know that if you control things up front, you control the match and that is obviously one of our goals for Friday’s game.”
