The Sharks Under-21s finally picked up some winning momentum against the Cheetahs last week, having come desperately close against the Bulls, only to fail at the final hurdle. This week’s team to face the Leopards shows few changes.

The front-row, already missing Wiehahn Herbst, will have to do without Dale Chadwick as well, with the latter filling in for Deon Carstens in the senior squad this week. Sabelo Nhlapo starts at loosehead, together with Baby Boks Kyle Cooper and Julian Redelinghuys at two and three respectively. Maritzburg College old boy Kurt Schonnert comes onto the bench to cover the front row. In a rotational change in hte second row, Pretoria Boys High old boy Lee Thompson will start at lock, with another SA junior, Jandré Marais moving to the bench. The loose trio of Siya Mdaka, Luvo Lusaseni and Lambert Groenwald is retained, having done well against Free State.

In the backs, both Cronjé twins have moved up to the Sharks, with Ross joining Guy on the bench in the place of injured Rory Kockott. Captain Tian Meyer will continue at flyhalf with Alex Kock coming into the number 9 jersey. There are changes in both centre positions, with Gary Collins and Arno van Zyl starting this week. They replace big George Tossel and Milo Nqoro respectively, who will both be on the bench. Faizel de Bruyn completes a backline reserve division that contains no specialist scrumhalf cover – Meyer himself being perfectly comfortable in either halfback position.

The back three of Rosco Specman, Mark Richards and match-winner Pat Lambie is retained for the fifth week in a row, having impressed coach Sean Everitt hugely to date. Lambie in particular is living up to his superstar billing, with his rock-steady boot proving the difference against Free State last week. He certainly showed up the highly-rated Sias Ebersohn, who missed no fewer than five shots at goal.
