Bloemfontein – Cheetahs flyhalf Jacques-Louis Potgieter is set to become a Blue Bull again and will not renew his contract with the Cheetahs.
The blond No 10 wants to join up with the Blue Bulls before next year’s Super14, where he will be considered as a flyhalf and inside centre.

Potgieter said it was a difficult decision: “The Blue Bulls started talking to me last year about rejoining and I decided to do it,” he said.
Yet his loyalty to the Cheetahs need not be questioned.
“I am a Free Stater until the end of the season and would like to be part of a Currie Cup-winning side. To be honest, I was still cheering for the Sharks on Saturday when they played against the Blue Bulls,” he said.
Potgieter will compete with Morné Steyn, Burton Francis and Francois Brummer for the Bulls’ No 10 jersey.
Coach Naka Drotské is disappointed about Potgieter’s decision, but realises it is the professional era.
“We made Jacques-Louis a good offer, but he did not accept it. We’re already looking at one or two flyhalves who can replace him.” he said.
Potgieter is playing his best rugby in a Free State jersey and has become a match-winner with his goal kicking in the Currie Cup.
His decision is a setback, but the Cheetahs still have quality flyhalves in Louis Strydom and Sias Ebersohn. And of course Meyer Bosman, who plays inside centre these days, has previously represented the Springboks at flyhalf.
And for the Super14, Drotské will also have Naas Olivier and Riaan Viljoen of Griquas available.
