Here’s an email that I just sent to the 24 players that are still alive in the Last Man Standing competition over on JustRugby.net.
You’re receiving this email because, as of round 13, you are still alive in our Last Man Standing competition. Only one more round to go and we’ll be into the tie-breaker phase of the competition, since I’m sure that more than one of you will make it through.
Congratulations, firstly, on making it this far. Hell, I didn’t even make it past round 4 this time!
Here’s what we’re going to do. Assuming there is more than one person left standing after next week, we’ll (unfortunately) have to eliminate all those who have used up a lifeline. Once we’ve done that, we’re going to look at Sharksworld contributions over the course of the Currie Cup season.
Now, to make it interesting and to give everybody a little extra incentive, we’re going to delay the naming of the winner until after the Currie Cup final. That means there are still three weeks or so to go and any comments(*) you post on Sharksworld within that time will count towards your total. The ultimate criterion will be the total number of comments posted starting the day the Currie Cup kicked off until the day of the final. I will circulate the final numbers just so that everybody can see for themselves how we decided.
The prize, as I’m sure you know, is a supporters jersey of your choice – the total value of the jersey and any shipping charges will not exceed R900.
Now, you noticed a little * above… there are two provisos here. The first proviso is that you need to make reasonable comments in order for them to count. As you’ll know from Sharksworld, we don’t require every comment to be strictly on topic and we do encourage banter, but trust me, we will notice if you start posting absolute nonsense just to get your comment count up and we reserve the right to disqualify you on those grounds.
The second proviso, of course, is that you need to comply with our rules when posting.
Thanks for playing, congratulations on getting this far and best of luck for the final challenge.
See you on the site.
