The outcome of Jaque Fourie’s arbitration case is now known, with the Bok midfielder being allowed to be released from his contract. Technically, Fourie could still re-sign with the Lions although that seems like an unlikely scenario because the player seems quite determined to go to Cape Town. If Dick Muir’s appointment is enough to keep Fourie reconsider, he has already done incredibly well.
Sharks fans watched this case quite closely, as it was expected if the ruling went in favour of Fourie, then Willem Alberts and Louis Ludik would make their way down to Durban. But the appointment of Muir has thrown a possible curve ball into the equation. It seems that both players had already asked to leave even before Jaque Fourie’s arbitration case was heard, yet the influential Muir may have enough to keep both players in the Lion’s den.
The pessimistic among us may believe that the capitulation of the Sharks in the semifinal will be enough to convince the duo to stay in Joburg but I don’t believe the matter is as simple as that.
I don’t have any “inside info” so we will have to see how this matter develops and hopefully we can expect news soon.
More on this as it develops . . .Tweet
