Ok, I’m sure we are all eagerly waiting for news on the possible transfer of Willem Alberts and Louis Ludik. What is for sure is that there is no official confirmation of the two signing for the Sharks.
But the latest is, according to an article in Beeld, that the agent of both players, Peet van Zyl has confirmed that both players do want to join the Sharks and are waiting for transfer certificates from the Lions. He also said that if the Lions refuse to issue those certificates then urgent steps will be taken to get them released, which could mean another court battle for the Lions.
Van Zyl said that the duo had made the decision not for money but rather as a career move, saying that money was not the issue and thus the players would not consider any offers from the Lions. Apparently, the problems the players have with the union have been brewing for some time. Van Zyl also reckons a move to the Sharks would do both player’s Bok ambitions the world of good.
Lions CEO, Manie Reynecke seemed to be in bullish mood again, stating that the Lions had a contract with the players and that Jaque Fourie’s contract was also valid. It seems like Reynecke is using all of this as a defense mechanism in a desperate attempt to save face for himself and the GLRU, even going as far to go against the arbitration’s ruling in Jaque Fourie’s case. Maybe things at the Lions are not looking as rosy as many Lions fans think they are, some have described the Lions as “the union to be at”. Time will tell how successful Dick Muir is at the Lions since it takes more than just one man to rebuild a team, he needs good structures in place as well and with the many senior players leaving the Lions over the past season or two, Muir may have a bigger job on his hands than many would like to believe.
So, it looks like Willem Alberts and Louis Ludik will be moving to the Sharks although there may have to be some legal procedures to follow before it becomes official. The good news for Sharks fans is that they both seem really keen on making the move, for now we await anything official.Tweet
