Former Sharks under 21 player Jacques Potgieter looks set to play a role in the Stormers 2010 Super 14 campaign.

Potgieter, a big blindside who’s also useful as a makeshift lock, attended the Sharks Academy and represented the Sharks under 19s in 2005 and the under 21s for the following two years. He struggled with injury between the latter half of 2008 and the first half of 2009 and was released to join the EP Mighty Elephants, initially on loan and then later as a permanent transfer during this year’s Currie Cup.

Potgieter, although still contracted to the Elephants, has been released to join the Stormers training group, where he will undergo testing to determine if he’ll make the cut for the final Stormers Super 14 squad. A series of fine performances for the Mighty Elephants in the first division have put Potgieter very firmly on Rassie Erasmus’s radar.

Good luck, Pottie. Hope it goes well.

  • @wpw (Comment 1) : I think he’s pretty all right. The Sharks are useless at spotting talent.
