It looks like any hopes of an early release for BJ Botha from his Ulster contract have been dashed, with the Irish provincial outfit stating pretty plainly that they will hold him to the terms of his agreement. Botha, a surprise call-up to the Bok squad in Europe last month, was rumoured to be considering a move back to South Africa.
All is not doom and gloom, though, as the powerful tighthead is only committed to the White Knights until the end of the 2010 European season, which ends halfway through next year. Should Botha decide to return to South Africa to rekindle his Springbok dream – with a view to representing his country at the 2011 World Cup – he could perhaps even be considered for a spot on next year’s Tri-Nations squad, since he would most likely be based back in SA by that stage.
Botha has himself indicated that a return to SA is very much on the cards, although anything more than this is purely speculation. If I were to put money on it, I’d imagine we’ll definitely see BJ back with the Sharks at some stage next year, although in reality, he’ll probably only feature in the 2011 Super 15 competition.
At WP? or has he stated he’ll only be back for sharks?
@molly (Comment 1) : He is a born and bred Durbanite, and the only reason he left was because of the Boks not the Sharks, he was the 1st choice TH. He has a gorgeous house (I believe) in Durbs, I am pretty sure he will come to the Sharks. Besides I am sure that Ireland would have had him dream of the warm weather of Durban.

I think that WP’s scrum improved and they are no longer a push-over but honestly can’t remember seeing them having the opposition pedalling backwords.
