The Sharks squad to travel down to Cape Town for the upcoming triangular friendly series has been named. The major talking point will be the inclusion of Willem Alberts.
SARU has indicated that Alberts, who has not yet been released by the Lions, should not play in the tournament, but the Sharks look set to ignore this advice and play him anyway.
There are few other surprises and Plumtree has opted to go with the tried-and-tested names from last year. Deon Carstens misses out, but my understanding is that he may have a niggle, while the injured Ruan Pienaar has also not been considered. Alberts, Gerhard Mostert and Pat Lambie are the only players in the group not to have represented the Sharks at Super 14 level before.
